ABOUT ABOUT

Thompson has created colorful and discomforting shapes and will activate them with performances of soft sculpture wearables.

The sculptures are membranes to be resisted against, barriers to be broken through both separating and connecting people.

The sculptures have bodily connotations challenging the ideas of proximity. This work will question how our bodies exist in physical space and reframe everyday interactions.

About the company:

Thompson’s work questions human connectivity through the exploration of wearable fabric sculptures, holding a space that challenges social boundaries and our interaction with space.

Thompson tours nationally. She has been the recipient of grants supporting her as resident artist at Kelly Strayhorn Pittsburgh, Laboratory Spokane WA, CASP Lubbock TX, AS220 Providence RI, Neu Kirche, and Future Tenant Pittsburgh. BFA CMU.
